Indiana Ice est; 2004 -- A WINNING TRADITION
Dear Hockey Prospect:
The Indiana Ice has enjoyed a winning tradition in their first six years as a member of the United States Hockey League. Through our focus on excellence on and off the ice, we have established the Ice as the premier Tier 1 Junior organization in North America.
As we enter our seventh season in the league, our resume has included a 2009 Clark Cup Championship, a 2008 East Division regular season championship and semi-finalist appearances in 2007 and 2010 in the Clark Cup Final Four. In addition, Indiana was the 2007-08 USHL Organization of the Year and the following summer saw Ice defenseman John Carlson being drafted in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. John is now a full time member or the Caps at 20 years young.
The USHL has long been known as the number one college preparatory league in the world. In its 33rd season the USHL annually produces over 220 NCAA Division One scholarships a year. As a player in the USHL you will be competing with and against future Division One players. We believe in today's society that the 5-6 year USHL/College plan is the best option for any young aspiring athlete. Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience in college and work hard to live out your dream of playing in the show one day. Over 80% of our athletes get a four year degree and starting compensation in the workplace will at least triple with a degree in hand.
The USHL continues to command great respect from the NHL. With NHL scouts at most games players have the opportunity to showcase their skills and develop their game in a league that is highly thought of by the NHL elite. In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the USHL had 29 players with league ties selected, included two first round selections in Louis Leblanc (Omaha) and John Moore (Chicago) by Montreal and Columbus.
As the 12th largest city in the United States, Indianapolis is the racing capital of the world and home to the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, Indianapolis Indians (AAA Baseball) and now the Indiana Ice of the USHL. Our sixth season in the USHL was a very special one. Our fans came out in big numbers to experience the exciting brand of hockey our players bring to each game. The Indiana Ice finished first in attendance in 2005-06 and we have been in the top three the past four seasons. The Ice also holds the all-time North American Jr.A single game attendance record of 14,892 spectators at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Each individual player's development is one of our primary goals within our organization's mission. Our coaching staff will spend a great deal of time developing our players' skills in practice. The Ice players will develop their bodies athletically through a structured in-season workout program with St.Vincent's Sports Performance Center sportsperformance.stvincent.org. We will expect that our players enrolled in school overachieve, and we will provide the support and structure to ensure that. The Indiana Ice employ a full time certified Equipment Manager and a certified Athletic Trainer. The Ice also employs a bus driver and owns a team Prevost sleeper bus, allowing our athletes to get the proper amount of rest when traveling during the season.
As a member of the Indiana Ice, our players get to experience all of the cultural benefits of our outstanding city, continue to build on their athletic and academic goals, and join our mission to bring the Clark Cup Trophy back home to the state of Indiana in 2010/11.
Sincerely yours,
Paul Skjodt
