Worcester Sharks sign forward Daniil Tarasov to AHL contract for 2012-13 season

Tarasov led the Indiana Ice (USHL) with 47 goals and 88 points 

WORCESTER, MA – Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas has announced that the Worcester Sharks have signed All-USHL First Team forward Daniil Tarasov to a standard player AHL contract for the 2012-13 season.  Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last season, the 20-year-old from Moscow, Russia led the Indiana Ice (USHL) in goals (47), assists (41), points (88), and finished third in penalty minutes (86) in 60 games played. Daniil finished 2nd in the United States Hockey League (USHL) in goals, points, and led the USHL with eight game winning goals. Tarasov finished the regular season riding a 13-game point streak, amassing 26 points (14-12-26) over that stretch with four multi-goal games. He also added 10 points (5-5-10) in six playoff games for the Ice.

The six foot, 185lb undrafted forward recorded 163 points (84-79-163) and 132 penalty minutes in 117 games in the USHL with the Indiana Ice. Tarasov led the USHL in goals (37) and game winning goals (8) in the 2010-11 season and had 84 goals over his two-year USHL career, the most by a player over two seasons since 1991-92 (Chris Ferraro, 102 goals). He has also skated in two scoreless games with Waterloo (USHL).
