Mission Statement
The Tier One AAA Indiana Jr.Ice program was established in 2000/01 to provide opportunities for our young hockey players long term. Our goal is to further their career in both the academic and athletic fields for the future, with these three distinct fields.
A) Team Sport Focus:
- Winning and losing together as a team.
- Comradery and life long friendships - Staff, parents and players.
- Adversity and how you deal with it, will teach us all valuable life lessons.
- Team Discipline, Team work ethic and Team responsibility will create winning environments, that in turn are major factors in your health and happiness long term.
B) Education First:
- To educate, mentor and engage our student athletes to understand the importance of an education.
- College/University programs have a standard set of requirements for student athletes. Your High School grades and test scores will have a huge impact in your ability to get accepted into any program, regardless of your talent level.
- Players will be held to the highest standard at high school and penalties for lack of effort, missing classes may include suspension from the program. Grades, attendance and progress reports will be monitored by our team academic counselor during each calendar year.
- The chances of Johnny ever reaching the NHL are very slim, our focus will be to provide an opportunity after high school for our student athletes. The options are far reaching here including promotion to the Indiana Ice of the USHL, Division One Academic scholarships, Division Three programs, University Club programs and or just assisting the family in the most important decision he or she will ever make.
C) Community Service and Character: Parents & Players:
- Minimum requirements for team community and individual community service hours. We have several programs in place that we will allow our athletes to give back to those less fortunate. Parents would be welcome to join and we would encourage it.
- Character is one trait what will dictate your future in so many ways, we all need to set the standards and mentor our students which in turn will help them prepare for life after hockey. Players will be held accountable and failure to follow both the USA hockey guidelines and the following rules, could result in suspension from team or an outright release.
- Physical or Mental abuse of any and all Indiana Jr.Ice staff members.
- Player that engages in any illegal substance or arrested and found guilty of any criminal offense while a member of the Indiana Jr.Ice.
- The legal drinking age in the state of Indiana is 21, alcohol is strictly prohibited while a member of the Indiana Jr.Ice. Parents who knowingly provide alcohol to any player(s) while a member of the Indiana Jr.Ice, will result in expulsion from the program.
- The Indiana Jr.Ice is committed to providing a platform that will ensure the very best for all concerned. We are going to look to the players and parents to commit for the following this year before tryouts are complete this summer. We will have certain guidelines and new a new financial model that will allow the programs to prosper from day one without any distractions.
- When you decide that this program is for you, be committed to the program for 2008/09 seasons. The Indiana Ice, the Indiana Jr. Ice staff along with the Coaches and volunteers are committed for the season.
- Before players are assigned to the teams, we will be asking for a commitment of 75% of the annual dues before December 15th/2008. Certain family hardships will be considered for this new policy
- Once tryouts are complete this spring/summer you may start a payment schedule this summer
- The budget for the year will be all inclusive including transportation when necessary, hotel rooms for parents/players, ice fees including tournaments, player equipment including sticks and league dues. Discounts in all these area's through combined RFP's, will reduce fees for each member club in the long run
- Each parent will receive a budget after tryouts that outline a monthly statement for the 2008/09 seasons
- We will outline several fund raising opportunities to lower costs associated with the program here as well
