PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Ice is scheduled to practice Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 pm and Thursday from 2-3:30 pm from Carmel Ice Skadium.
BANANA SPLIT: The Ice began their “On the Road Again” tour with a split against Des Moines and Omaha last weekend. The “Bucs” scored three second period goals to edge Indiana 4-3 on Friday, despite two goals from Ryan Obuchowski and 43 saves from Dalton Izyk. On Saturday, the Ice erupted for three second period goals of their own to down the Western Conference-leading Lancers 6-3. Kirill Lebedev (3G) and Sean Kuraly (G, 2A) led the way offensively and Jon Gillies stopped 29 saves between the pipes.
HAT TRICK CLUB: With three goals on Saturday, forward Kirill Lebedev became the 16th member of the Indiana Ice “Hat Trick Club” which also includes current teammates Daniil Tarasov and Sean Kuraly. Lebedev has provided some offensive firepower as the Russian winger has seven goals in just eight games with the Ice.
MEAN STREAKS: Defenseman Ryan Obuchowski and forward Sean Kuraly enter this week’s play riding four and three-game point streaks respectively. Obuchowski has six points (2G, 4A) for his streak and is second among USHL d-men in scoring (29 pts) and tied for first in assists (24). Kuraly, who posted his team-leading fifth three-or-more point game on Saturday, has amassed seven points (3G, 4A) during his three-game stretch and is third in the league in goals (26) and tied for first in power play goals (10).
PLAYER NOISE: Dalton Izyk’s 43 saves on Friday at Des Moines was an Ice season-high…Daniil Tarasov is second in the USHL in points (56) and goals (26) and first in game-winning goals (6)…Jon Gillies is first in the league in wins (23) and save percentage (.921)…Robert Polesello has a goal in two of his last three games…Jake Fallon has three assists in his last three games…Matt Krug had two assists in Saturday’s win at Omaha.
TEAM SPLATTER: The Ice is 15-4-3 in their last 22 games…Indy leads the league with 43 power play goals and is first on the road (27.2%) and overall (28.3%) with the man advantage….The Ice is 20-0-2 when leading after two periods.
CAMPUS LIFE: Paul Carey (07-08) scored twice for Boston College in a weekend sweep of Merrimack…Nic Dowd (09-10) and Jarrod Rabey (10-11) combined for six points for St. Cloud in two games against Alaska-Anchorage…Torey Krug (08-09) handed out three assists for Michigan State in a weekend sweep of Alaska.
