CHARLIE SKJODT TO ASSUME COACHING DUTIES FOR REMAINDER OF SEASON

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Indiana Ice announced today that Kyle Wallack has been relieved of his duties as general manager and head coach of the Indiana Ice effective immediately.

“There were a number of factors that led me to make this decision at this time of the year, but team unity, improvement in team play during the season and the development of the players who sign up for the Indiana Ice will never be compromised, “ said Ice CEO Paul Skjodt.  “I would like to thank Coach Wallack for his time here in Indy and wish him much success in his future endeavors.”

Ice president Charlie Skjodt will assume the head coach duties on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.

Skjodt’s previous head coaching stints of the Ice include a 76-34-10 regular season record and playoff appearances in all three years he was at the helm.

He was originally hired at the tail end of the 2006-07 season and led that squad to a final four appearance winning six of seven playoff games, including six straight victories and a four-game sweep in round one against Green Bay.  His 2007-08 encore included an East Division Championship, 39-15-6 record and a franchise-best 22-4-4 mark at home.  Last season, he coached the Ice to a 37-19-4 regular season mark and into the second round of the Clark Cup playoffs.

The search for a new GM and head coach will begin immediately for the 2012-13 season and inquiries can be sent to VP of Hockey Jason Burkman;
