ICE PROSPECT SELECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
FORWARD JUSTIN BAILEY TO SUIT UP WITH TEAM USA FOR IVAN HLINKA TOURNAMENT
The Indiana Ice announced today that highly touted prospect Justin Bailey has been selected to participate in the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia.
The tournament runs from August 13-18 and features teams from all over the world including the United States, Canada and several European teams.
Former Icemen Jon Gillies and Cristoval Nieves helped anchor the Americans during the 2011 tournament campaign, while other past Indy alumni who have participated in the tournament include Sean Kuraly (Miami), Brian Ferlin (Cornell), Shane Berschbach (Western Michigan), Alex Wideman (Miami) and Casey DeSmith (New Hampshire).
Bailey dressed with the Ice for two games against the Youngstown Phantoms in late December, scoring a goal on his second USHL shift. The Michigan State commit was a cornerstone for the Long Island Royals U16 squad as he helped lead the team to the 2011 U16 National Championship title.
In addition to Bailey, former Ice forward Adam Erne was selected to play in this summer’s international tournament. Erne registered 18 points (10G, 8A) in 45 games with Indy during the 2010-2011 season.
Tournament play for Team USA begins August 13 against Russia with additional match-ups with the Czech Republic (8/14) and Finland (8/15).
The Indiana Ice is now taking deposits for 2012-2013 season ticket packages. Call the Indiana Ice Office at 317-925-4423 for more information.
