ICE’S AMAN HEADED FOR THE “ROCKIES” FOR COLLEGE
ICE AT PAN AM PLAZA THIS SATURDAY AGAINST OMAHA
INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Ice announced today that forward Zach Aman has committed to playing college hockey for the Colorado College Tigers. Colorado College is an NCAA Division I member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
Aman joins the Indy roster after spending last season with Shattuck-St. Mary’s, the powerhouse prep program out of Faribault, MN. He finished the season fourth on the squad in goals (25) and assists (41) for a combined 66 points as the Sabres won the 2012 USA Hockey U18 National Championships in Williamsville, NY.
The Johnstown, PA native will become the second Ice product to commit to the Tigers after former forward Cody Bradley committed to the Colorado Springs, CO institution last season. Notable players to occupy the Colorado College bench include Jaden Schwartz (St. Louis), Joey Crabb (Toronto) and Jack Hillen (Nashville). Several legendary coaches have also served as the Tiger’s bench boss including Don Lucia and “Badger Bob” Johnson.
Other additions to the Ice’s college commitment list include Austin Ortega (Nebraska-Omaha) and Alex Talcott (Michigan). Ortega was acquired in a trade with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders while Indy picked up Talcott, who played last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
