The Hibbing, MN native was selected by the Indiana Ice in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft and attended the team's main camp in June.  While finishing his junior year at Hibbing High School in Hibbing, MN, the 5-10 forward has accumulated 59 points (28G, 31A) in 23 games.  Johnson is currently ranked 87th in the NHL Central Scouting Draft Rankings for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition to being drafted by the Ice, Johnson has also committed to playing college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in the fall of 2013.  Several alumni of the Bulldogs' program include 2012 Hobey Baker Award winner Jack Connolly, two-time Stanley Cup winner Brett Hull and Miracle on Ice star Mark Pavelich.  Former Ice defenseman Tim Smith is currently tending the blue line for Minnesota-Duluth.
