Mirabello’s professional hockey career began in Erie, PA where he spent three seasons as the voice of the East Coast Hockey League’s Erie Panthers. From there he moved on to the ECHL’s Huntington Blizzard for two seasons. While in Huntington, Mirabello earned a state-wide West Virginia Associated Press Award for Best Sports Play-By-Play.
Jim spent one season in Tallahassee FL as the voice of the ECHL’s Tallahassee Tiger Sharks. From there he moved on to the Western Professional Hockey League with the Central Texas Stampede for two seasons. He then joined the WPHL’s Alexandria Warthogs in the 1998/99 season before moving on to Port Huron of the United Hockey League. Mirabello was named the UHL’s “Broadcast Of The Year” in the 1999/2000 season.
He also worked in Anaheim with Roller Hockey International’s Anaheim Bullfrogs, and was part of the team’s final RHI championship.
In addition to hockey, Jim has broadcast college basketball, college and high school football and minor league baseball. Prior to entering hockey Jim worked as a news and sports director for several western Pennsylvania radio stations.
Mirabello is a native of Pittsburgh PA and a graduate of Duquesne University with a BA degree in journalism.
