NHL Draft Picks

Former Indiana Ice defenseman John Carlson was the first Ice player ever to be selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. After sitting and waiting for nearly four hours, he finally heard his name called after the Washington Capitals made him the 28th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa, Ontario. Carlson was the only USHL player chosen on the first day of the 2008 Draft.

The Ice had three forwards taken at the 2011NHL   Entry draft in St. Paul, Minnesota. Blake Coleman   was selected in the third round (75th overall) by the New Jersey Devils. The 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins picked Brian Ferlin to  close out the fourth round (121 overall) and Sean Kuraly was drafted in the fifth round (133 overall) by the San Jose Sharks.
